Is my child old enough/too old to attend the class?Our classes are built for 9-16 year olds. But if your child is 8 or 17-18 years old and are passionate for video making, we would love to have them.

What equipment does my child need to take the classes?For all of the classes, you child will need a personal computer that has a camera and a microphone. Most laptop computers comes with a camera and microphone. For some of the classes, your child's computer must be able to run the software Audacity and/or CapCut. Both softwares are free and can be handled by most computers. For some of the advanced courses, it would be a good idea for your child to have a phone or stand alone camera to use. They can also benefit from a ring light and microphone. For specific class requirements, please call us or refer to the class listing on the classes page.

How do the lessons work?All lessons at Big Laffs.School are online and taught through zoom or google classroom. Students will need a computer with a camera and mic to attend class. A teacher will lead the students through lecture and a series of hands on activities. All students are expected to participate and will produce some type of media by the end of class.

Can my child try out a class and see if this is right for them?Your child is welcome to attend the first class for free. Once the full tuition is paid, they can continue the course.

How much does lessons cost?Group Lessons are $350 per student, per course.

How do "Group" course work?Group courses are taught through zoom with the same group of students. 4-8 students per class. A full course is 12 lessons long and takes place weekly in the spring and fall, 3 times a week in the summer. Students are required to have their own computer, camera, mic and potentially some extra equipment depending on which course they are taking. There will be homework assignments, and students are expected to finish them on their own. There will be a google classroom page, where students can ask teacher questions, turn in their homework and engage with other students.
